In Patch 80: Curse from the Skies they added a new system called Skill Advancement, this guide will cover that system.

General Information

Starting after you reach level 66 you will be able to unlock “Skill Upgrades”. These are upgrades to existing skills by using Enchantment Scrolls and gold, we’ll go deeper into this system in dedicated part of this guide. You will unlock 3 skills which you can upgrade, unlocking at level 66, 68 and level 70 respectively. By upgrading in this system you will gain 3 effects, 1 is the increased damage/crit chance, 1 is an increase in base state and a increase in MP cost of that specific skill. Note: There are some skills that differentiate from the standard 3 effects. Each skill can be upgraded 60 times, with increased costs as you go higher.

Basically anything you do gives your character experience and Skill EXP, Skill EXP is used in Skill Upgrading. Every upgrade requires a Skill Advancement Point which you gain by getting enough Skill EXP. Much like how you farm EP Points by gaining Experience.

At level 67 and 69 you will unlock “Skill Options” which are similiar to glyphs, you will gain additional effects on the skills. Out of the 3 options you can pick 1, however you can unlock all 3 of them and switch between them freely as you would with Glyphs. Unlocking them is rather costly so make sure you pick the right one. They’re usually split between an Option for PvP, Party Content and Solo Content. But that is not to say that the PvP can’t be the one you want to use in Dungeons or in Solo content.

Note: When you look at item tooltips and you see “Use to advance your “1” skill slot” it refers to each level at which you unlock something.
“1” skill slot refers to the first skill upgrade unlocked at level 66.
“2” skill slot refers to the first skill option unlocked at level 67.
“3” skill slot refers to the second skill upgrade unlocked at level 68.
“4” skill slot refers to the second skill option unlocked at level 69.
“5” skill slot refers to the third skill upgrade unlocked at level 70.

Below you will find the possible Skill Upgrades sorted by class. Note that you require Skill Advancement Points to upgrade skills, these are obtained by farming just like you farm for Level EXP.

Upgrading the level 66 skill will use Skill Advancement Scroll I and varying amounts of gold.

These scrolls are obtained by doing story quests, zone quests, doing dungeons, killing the new World Bosses and by fishing.
Whereas the Skill Advancement Scroll III are only obtained from Ortan, one of the World Bosses and by combining Skill Advancement Scroll II.

Growing Fury (Level 69)

Sensation of Power The window for Perfect Defense increases by 0.2 seconds.
Asceticism Reduces Rage consumption per second by 50%, but amount of increased Power and Crit Factor decreases by 50%.

Stand Fast (Level 67)

Adrenaline Rush (Level 69)

Modular Weapon System (Level 69)

Fire When Mana Missiles is chained with Dashing Reload, Modular Weapon System fires missiles that deal 15% more damage.
Integration Increases projectile’s speed by 30% and damage by 20% when using Arcane Barrage while Modular Weapon System is active. Explosion radius is reduced by 30%.
Force Field Summoning Modular Weapon System briefly activates a force fields that decreases damage of incoming ranged attacks for allies within 6m by 15%.

Tenacity (Level 67)

Rebirth Recovers additional 35,000 HP on skill use.
Mental Strength Immune to knockdown and stagger. Greatly increases resistance to weakening effects.
Insight Removes all harmful effects and becomes invincible for 1 second.

In Cold Blood (Level 69)

Balance All attacks are considered to be attacks from behind during the effect. Overhand Strike decreases Endurance by 9% on successful hit.
Focus Increases duration by 25% and damage of Overhand Strike by 10%.
Armed Take 30% less damage from ranged attacks and increases Movement Speed in combat by 20.

Hailstorm (Level 67)

Glacial Explosion Damage over time effect ends and instantly deals maximum damage to the area.
Cold Wave Successful hit on a monster decreases its Endurance by 3% for 20 seconds, up to 9%. Stuns target for 3 seconds on 4 stacks. Stun can only occur once every 15 seconds.
Frostbite Doubles the maximum stacks of Movement Speed decrease effects.

Mana Boost (Level 69)

Mysterious Increases duration by 20% and gains all element types.
Managame Replenishes MP of allies within 30m by 20% for 5 seconds and decreases MP of enemies within 30m by 20% for 5 seconds.
Inner Peace Activates a barrier that absorbs 40,000 damage for 5 seconds. Resists stun while barrier is active.

Smite (Level 67)

Blade Fury Upon successful PvP hit, the enemy player takes 10% more damage and loses 863 HP per sec for 9 seconds.
Incise Upon successful monster hit, lowers monster’s Endurance by 9%, and all attacks are considered to be attacks from behind for 4 seconds. Recovers your HP by 3%.
Restrained Decreases damage of Smite by 90%, but increases damage of Grim Strike by 10%.

Shadow Reaping (Level 69)

Blackout You and 3 nearby allies receive cloak effect for 4 seconds. Caster receives [Assassination: Shrouded Escape] effect.
Snare While effect is active, a successful hit decreases the target’s Movement Speed by 20%. (Stacks up to 4 times.)

Impact Bomb (Level 67)

Sleep Bomb 2 seconds after a successful hit, throws a sleep bomb that makes the target fall asleep for 4 seconds. The next damage on the sleeping target deals 30% more damage. This does not affect boss monsters.
Outbreak Increases damage of Impact Bomb by 200%.
Sticky Bomb Decreases Movement Speed by 100% for 4 seconds on successful hit. This does not affect boss monsters.

Attunement (Level 69)

Avalanche Spirit Recovers 500 additional Chi over 10 seconds and increases damage of Fire Avalanche by 15%.
Burning Spirit Recovers 500 additional Chi over 10 seconds and increases the chance to crit of Burning Heart by 10%.
Lightning Spirit Recovers 500 additional Chi over 10 seconds and increases damage of Quick Attack, Double Cut, Skyfall, and Circle of Steel by 10%.

Shining Crescent (Level 67)

Spirit of Iron Reduces damage taken by 50% while casting. Successful monster hit reduces its Endurance by 4.5%. (Stacks up to 2 times)
Velocity Casting speed for the first two hits of Shining Crescent is increased by 15%. Increases Ragnarok recovery by 25 on successful hit.
Bleeding Successful hit on an enemy player applies bleeding effect, which reduces the target’s HP over time, and increases damage taken by 9%.

Titansbane (Level 69)

Name Icon Effect
Focus Increases damage of Titansbane by 30% and recovers 200 Ragnarok points on every successful hit, and recovers 400 Ragnarok points on second hit. However, allies no longer receive [Arun’s Wail] and [Shara’s Scream] effects.
Sheen Doubles the skill damage bonus of [Arun’s Wail] and [Shara’s Scream], but decreases damage of Titansbane by 80%.
Armor Resists knockdown and stagger while casting Titansbane. In addition, [Arun’s Wail] reduces damage by 10% and [Shara’s Scream] reduces damage by 15%.

Rain of Blows (Level 67)

Dueling Scar Upon successfully hitting target with Rain of Blows while Defensive Stance is active, Dueling Scar is stacked to target. Targets with 7 stacks of Dueling Scar are stunned and their Endurance decreases by 9%. Boss monsters are not stunned and Endurance decreases by 1.5%.
Rapid Strike When using Rain of Blows while Assault Stance is active, casting speed is increased by 15% and doubles chance to crit. Rain of Blows will no longer reduce damage.
Wound Applies [Wound] to an enemy player on successful hit. 7 stacks of [Wound] causes Bleeding effect on the target for a moment, which decreases HP over time, and increases damage taken by 9%.

Deadly Gamble (Level 69)

Name Icon Effect
Spirit of Iron Frontal defense is added to Rain of Blows, Blade Draw, Scythe, and Aerial Scythe when Deadly Gamble is used while Defensive Stance is active. However, damage of these skills is reduced by 20% in PvP.
Bellicosity Increases duration of Deadly Gamble by 20% if used in Assault Stance. Also, instantly resets cooldown of Rain of Blows, Blade Draw, Scythe, and Aerial Scythe upon casting Deadly Gamble.
Encouraging Shout Applies an aura to allies within 6m that deals 8% more damage to players when Deadly Gamble is used.

Titanic Favor (Level 67)

Velocity Casting Titanic Favor automatically locks on to the nearest 2 allies within 15m. Can be used while moving.
Amplified Healing Successful skill hit applies Amplified Healing which increases healing skills affecting the target by 15% for 3 seconds.
Downfall Damages up to 2 enemies within 15m radius without lock-on, and fies a [Downfall Bomb] that reduces the target’s skill damage by 7.5%. Can be used while moving. Doubles the skill cooldown.

Boomerang Pulse (Level 69)

Heal Doubles the size of the orb. Increases speed and range of the orb by 30%.
Chain Sends a healing orb to the nearest ally within 15m. After restoring HP of the ally, the orb flies to next allies within 15m, healing up to 4 allies.
Amplification Increases skill damage by 100%. Successfully hitting a target with [Downfall Bomb] effect doubles Downfall’s damage reduction effect. However, the HP Recovery effect no longer applies to allies.

Focus Heal (Level 67)

Velocity Casting Focus Heal automatically locks on to the nearest 2 allies within 15m. Can be used while moving.
Heal Applies healing effect to ally on successful skill hit. Heals 2.5% HP of target every second for 5 seconds.
Weakening Touch Damages up to 2 enemies within 15m radius without lock-on, and fires a bolt that reduces the effect of healing skills on the target by 15%. Can be used while moving. Doubles the skill cooldown.

Holy Burst (Level 69)

Heal Increases HP recovery by 50% but decreases skill damage by 50%.
Blessing Applies [Enhanced Devoted Favor] to caster.
Amplification Increases skill damage by 80%. Successfully hitting a target with Weakening Touch effect doubles the effect. However, the HP Recovery and [Enhanced Devoted Favor] effects no longer apply to allies.

  1. “Basically anything you do gives your character experience and Skill EXP:
    Can you at least be more specific about this? If I run any dungeon, I don’t get Skill EXP so how can you claim that ‘basically anything done gives Skill EXP’.
